I had a hyperactive thyroid as a kid due to Chernobyl proximity. Docs told my parents I can't use computers because they "cause excitement". So I compiled my programs to a tiny VM I made up, and ran them in my head. I don't recommend it for your kids, but it does build character.

  I did a research study years ago in a low income neighborhood. Recruited & trained 7 women from the area to help do interviews. Met them & found out each was a medical Dr from their home country but unable to find work. Pretty eye opening.
