This feels a lot like you've not dug in beyond national headlines. It's remarkably frustrating that smart people across the country are subject to the most sensational headlines about what's gone on in Portland.
um, i've been closely following portland since june, and the national media isn't touching it. my sense is maybe YOU haven't dug beyond those headlines. have a nice morning.

Help me understand then. Do you see a distinction between antif* and their direct action approach vs the wider protest attended by ordinary people w/ no alignment to antif*? Is the point you were making that some people have rioted every night, but that doesn’t mean everyone has?

Also, to be clear: I’m not trying to fight with you. I respect you and enjoy your writing. I’m trying to understand where you’re coming from. On my end it’s been really frustrating to feel every person in Portland gets categorized as antif*-aligned.
