I agree with you. I’m actually writing something now on “shamesplaining,” where words are used as weapons to alienate otherwise well-intended people. (Seeing this a lot on Clubhouse).

I think that 'assume best intentions' is regarded as a norm by a vocal minority on CH but not often practiced by the majority

Wouldn’t “preference” be a good public descriptor of individuals born or natural sexuality. Ex: I’m straight I’d prefer to be known as straight, why is this complicated??
