What it really means is whatever the hell the author claiming to be an originalist wants it to mean. You just cherry-pick historical sources that support your preferred interpretation and say "see, THAT'S what the founders intended."

You’re good in the first half here, but go well off the rails in the second half. SCOTUS doesn’t just uphold the law or call balls and strikes. That’s an artifice, just like all applications of originalism have been. Many founders w/ varying interpretations of the constitution.
