wild to see tech journalists openly endorsing regional, anti-tech legislative positions like “no on 22,” which will effectively eradicate ride sharing in california. is this not some kind of ethical violation?

Yeah, this is new. When I was a tech journo, the rule was that you don’t tell people where to invest or how to vote.
i know journalists covering sf government who refuse to express any kind of opinion on the politicians they’re covering, even privately, and journalists covering tech who do the same. definitely jarring to see on my timeline.

I know some political journalists who won’t vote in primaries, only general elections, because they don’t think it’s appropriate to have a party affiliation. (My personal rule was no campaign donations, which was great for my wallet too.)
