Yeah, this is new. When I was a tech journo, the rule was that you don’t tell people where to invest or how to vote.

i know journalists covering sf government who refuse to express any kind of opinion on the politicians they’re covering, even privately, and journalists covering tech who do the same. definitely jarring to see on my timeline.

I feel conflicted on 22. Voting yes is clearly the correct position for all involved. But I also want to see what happens if it doesn't pass and if Californians will stop electing the people that created the issue to begin with.

A lot of well-meaning people who vote “no” will be shocked by the outcome. If ridesharing is eradicated in California, the shock might act as smelling salts for some anti-tech people.
