Dated a girl who grew up really poor. Parents gave everything to send her to good uni. Lots of trauma everywhere. Met her family— house on a hill in an upper middle class neighborhood, two benzes, etc. Bitch we literally threw chunks of coal into a furnace if we wanted hot water.https://twitter.com/neoliberal_dad/status/1312920566274437121 …

? Happens *all the time*. They say: "well, you seem to be doing really well with [presenting issue]. I think we can see each other less frequently..." and then, soon: "unless something comes up, this is the last session". Again: major part of the job.

I feel like talk therapy is the easiest thing in the world to criticize (for one, it doesn't work) but this is actually one of the few areas I've seen it shine. They actually say ya you're good go away when you're good
-
also, they have unreasonably good tissues for crying, like I'm pretty sure they have access to an underground market of super-tissues that you can't get from outside okay those are the two good things I have to say about talk therapy

there are all different kinds of therapy, and I presume many are scammy; however, like physical fitness, the work is never truly ~finishedhttps://twitter.com/rivatez/status/1309504211885801472?s=20 …

Lazy takes. It’s not clinical psychologists for the most part who are perpetuating micro-trauma. We deal with the major stuff—military, sexual, abuse, etc.—and people generally don’t come in unless it’s bad. It’s post-modernist/woke that are using it to justify political agenda.

There are multiple tiers in the counseling industry, he's obviously talking about "everyone could use some therapy it's like exercise for the soul" tier.

Also, your incorrect takes do a terrible disservice in discouraging people from seeking mental health treatment, which is under not over utilized. Most managed care limits number of sessions, and plenty of clinicians and practitioners end work when they’ve gotten enough benefit.
