i'm not saying the world is actually great, ala pinker, i'm just pointing out that wealth is dynamic, rather than static, and success is demonstrably not zero-sum

The issue is that he knows this! His point happens to be that while the rich lobby for themselves, they denigrate policies that may quite possibly help out the working class. Forbes recently came out against a UBI citing "the disconnection between effort and reward".

Meanwhile, most of his wealth was passively earned. His point and there's strong evidence for this... is that shit that a lot of rich folk are undermining poorer folk through policy.
