there's a difference between respectfully talking over politics at lunch, which people already struggle with, and zero opt-out, company-wide political activism with turbo-charged slack chats that cripple productivity and make everyone other than activists miserable
i mean, I agree that this is a major thing, and it's also not endemic to any one company or industry (at least in my experience) — journalism currently going through this too i find some of the solutions offered thus far to be somewhat out of sync with company histories, though
i just think the solution of "check every part of your politics at the door" is going to be very difficult to enforce. and you're already seeing that from the backlashes I'm hearing about at Facebook and coinbase
