Has anyone of influence actually suggested locking up people for being poor?
i think he's referring to state conservatorship of the mentally shattered people currently screaming in the middle of our streets, which he is presumably against and i am absolutely for. but mental health, while important, is just one aspect of the homeless crisis.

That would make more sense. There is certainly more justification for institutionalizing those who represent a harm to themselves or, especially, others. That is not to say that this applies to all, or even most, mentally ill individuals.
