We like to pretend that our way of life is so manifestly superior to any other that we could not possibly have enemies in this world. We did it after the fall of the USSR and we did it again after the memory of 911 had faded a bit. It is both inaccurate and astonishingly naive.

I remember thinking the world was ending. I imagine it's how the Kennedy assassination or Pearl Harbor felt. Strange to discuss world affairs with people who don't remember the day the course of history changed. But the same applies to our generation and those earlier events.

I remember I was in second grade. I have a substitute teacher, 80 year old Mrs. Cherry. Every other class had TVs rolled in to watch the news. Mrs. Cherry was the only one wise enough not to show it to elementary school kids.

Ya elementary kids would have been too young to understand. As a freshman in high school it was very shocking to watch but I'm glad I did.

It was ptovabiy such a terrible day for su much people, my prayer and remeberence to the victims, relatives and all Americans. At the same time context is very important, other countries have suffered proportionally equally big things and don't need the whole remember thing.
