i know the thiel trope is that we aren’t innovating in atoms, but after periods of hyper growth come periods of consolidation. we didn’t even consolidate, we just started growing in different ways. can you name one industry that isn’t completely revolutionized since 79?
my argument isn’t that we stopped doing things after board of ed, i’m saying the board of ed costs 68 billion dollars a year and has nothing to show for it other than a proliferation of soul crushing standardized tests

that’s because betsy devos runs it. BoE is in charge of standardizing curriculum, allocating federal funding for school programs that serve as subsidized childcare/food, helping impoverished schools get parity in resources, etc. we’ve just spent 4 yrs ripping up title9 protection
