My genuine take on this is that he fills in gaps within the eyeholes on his mask with some sort of paint. The Nolan version seems to have it filled in with something, but he leaves it a mystery, which is preferable to this My Chemical Romance version.

This is more realistic, Nolans Batman did the same but wanted to think the audience was too dumb, Matt Reeves actually wrote it into the character which makes it more grounded. Awesome look
