I wish more people working in tech ran for office in California.

I suspect part of the problem (in SF, at least) is that the Board of Supervisors seems to have much of the power, and it would be a miserable job if you were the only one to be elected to it - you’d need to run as a group.

this is why i decided not to run. almost impossible to win (i live in the district that elected the open marxist), and if you do you’re politically neutralized by the rest of the board

Maybe it would be possible to run as a group? Do end of terms ever line up? Definitely would be interesting.

i did. only 6 seats up for grab this cycle, which means we‘d need to take at least 5/6, against several incumbents, to even have a chance at accomplishing anything after winning. anything less meant promising the world, delivering nothing, then running *again* on that record.

while technically possible, i just didn’t believe i could do it. i’m not even confident i could win on my own, let alone something that dramatic.
