Its not obvious to me the ones who created the problem are the ones coming here. There are very few cali boomers coming, and very few wokists. They are staying. Yes, many people left of center...but in my experience, the ones coming to Texas come different

I've lived in Austin for 11 years. This is BY FAR the most liberal city in Texas, and the only liberal types who move to Texas, move here. It's what I've seen, over and over.

Anecdotally here in NYC- - steadfast far left are staying - more left tend to flee to Connecticut, Upstate, and New Jersey - center left, center right, and conservatives flee to cheap states (Florida and Texas mostly)

It's a couple of years old now, but the Statesman (Austin paper) published an article about transplants to TX pointing out that more than half were conservatives fleeing blue zones. With the current mess, though, I don't know if that still holds, but the RE market is nuts rn.
