california is about to kill ride-sharing. presumably, the catastrophic job loss will be blamed on the fact that uber and lyft were allowed to exist in the first place. “we wouldn’t have lost these jobs,” @LorenaSGonzalez will argue, “had they never been created.”

@cheesechoker Never said I agree with CA's action, but Uber is standing on the tracks and the the train is CA. Uber should have seen this coming and could have taken action to avoid this potentially devastating outcome. Because of them, many will suffer. -
I’m sorry Mike she has to be a robot. Someone made a gpt-3 account

CA: should we make uber gig workers (well all gig workers) employees? uber: nah uber drivers: no, i like my current job and the flexibility investors: hell no average citizens: ubers a convenient service CA dictators and regulators: well f*ck all y’all, we are doing it anyway

Uber wants growth, charges as little as possible and uses gig workers because they're "cheap." People want jobs that pay the bills, but take what they can get. Model isn't sustainable for their workers nor customers, nor anyone else. AB5 is a symptom of the problem.
