every competent entrepreneur in the country is watching california run uber and lyft out of the state, and working that into their mental model of what is possible here. we aren't just losing hundreds of thousands of jobs. the economic impact of AB-5 will be felt for decades.

Way to go, CA. But, hey.. maybe this will make it cheap enough to live in California again, eventually.

High taxes, iffy schools, home building restrictions, dookies on the sidewalk, AB-5.

Same issue with the wealth tax. It’s absolutely true that it won’t hit most people; it is equally true that there is no limit to how far it might be extended in principle, and so people will factor that into their decisions about life here.

too many californians who don't understand their own political ideas destroyed the state moving to texas for my comfort. i'm nervous for the lone star kids tbh.

The second and third order social impacts will be felt for decades as well i.e. homelessness, increase in crime, many people leaving California, etc.

The only place where Lyft and Uber succeeded was at exiting for the founders and early investors. Neither company is viable. No entrepreneur should strive to build non viable businesses. Not defending CA, but their policies have nothing to do with their failure.
