misinformation often goes viral, but corrections go unnoticed. an easy thing for twitter that would dramatically enrich discourse: one-time, mass direct messaging to everyone who fav’d a tweet, strictly available for corrections at scale. ban feature abuse. rt for world peace.

How is it different from authoritarian govs declaring some info to be the truth, then demanding all their media broadcast it? We should'nt give more distribution to ideas based on their relative truth as absolute truths are so rare. Up to people to be critical & discern truth.
feature is not for centralized authority, it’s for people who believe they themselves have misinformed the public

Interesting but again same issue: we are giving someone (anyone) the ability to decide on distribution of a piece of info. The reason the info went viral is because people decided to share it. If they decide to NOT make the correction viral, then that's their decision too.

Totally understand where you are coming from and also agree with it but the solution is such a dangerous slippery slope even with checks and balances. The ONLY solution imho is to help people be better critical thinkers so they arrive at the truth better.
