i think this has become a very prevalent pattern and the root cause is people's disregard of responsibility that is associated with freedom provided by democracy.
What's not to understand? People hate on the Patriots, the Yankees, Taylor Swift, white men, etc. That's how it goes, and it's not a terrible thing tbh. Keeps the "winners" on their toes

great newsletter mike! i get the impression that many critiques of silicon valley are driven by pure resentment. seeing something similar with auto mfg in germany. they are the biggest fish in the pond over here so they attract the same type of visceral criticism.
I don't think it's contempt for success or the welfare of our country. Consumer tech especially has commoditized users, upturned industries with lower wage models (further commodifying people), and profited from those "efficiencies". People notice. Tech is the new wall street.
