If they choke nascent high quality innovation through market position and power destroying potential competitors and consumer value then they are hurting consumers. E.g. Electric cars pre Tesla vs after Tesla

@elonmusk have had to fight through efforts to hobble him that weren't about making the best car and beating him legitimately but rather using existing market positions to destroy what is now a category defining product. What else is the world missing out on? -
I'm personally more concerned with what the world is missing out on due to patent trolls preventing companies from implementing their full vision than some features being copied by big tech. I suspect that preventing the latter could fuel the former.
