I would be very pissed off if I lost the ability to sell my company to someone else. Half the reason I'm doing what I'm doing now is so I can build an asset that someone else might want to buy some day.

In the academic publishing world if they can't buy a competitor they'll frivolously sue and bankrupt them. I think acquisitions are better for smaller companies with less resources.
