Number 1 problem for me with any hypothesis about aliens is that we do not observe the signs of megascale engineering when we look at the cosmos. Number 2 is if they are visiting now in flying saucers, why didn't they colonize earth back in the time of the dinosaurs?

Wasting all the negentropy from stars is just not plausible unless every single alien species has a very strong desire to waste useful energy for no particular reason.

The fact that we can see the rest of the universe and it looks like a giant fire where all the resources are burning for no benefit to anyone is a really devastating blow to ideas that there are other intelligent spacefaring species in the observable universe.
