a few things: 1. his office said nothing for an entire day as no comment, then very end provided a non-defusing comment 2. next day he took floor in congress and delivered a non-apology while admitting it 3. AOC wont let him off hook, which i think is fair considering stature
no doubt he is an idiot, and handled his gross comment idiotically, but this story was curated for moments and plastered at the top of breaking news before points 1-3 here (even while the then-comparable press sec story was unfolding). we are seeing what twitter wants us to see.
