a lot of people are wondering if/when substack will become as censorious as twitter, but substack was designed for that question not to matter. you own your mailing list, so even if you lose the platform you retain your audience. creative insurance is *part of* the product.

Never underestimate the will of the censorious. I heard there was a controversy recently around a platform that’s literally just people talking to each other with their mouths, and there was a push to censor speech by people who weren’t even there.
right, this is why i’m interested in platforms / products / technologies that acknowledge the inevitability of authoritarianism, and preemptively mitigate the threat

In your other tweet, I was kind of joking about Apache, but honestly, the lower level you get on the Internet’s underlying technology, the more resilience to censorship is both possible and a design feature.
