all it ever does is remind me the chinese government is attempting to sway opinion in the west via propaganda on social media, and there are all manner of ways they may be doing this we *do not* notice

Which may be equally ineffective - a lot of ppl have the idea in their mind of the “masterfully nefarious and clandestine CCP influence campaign” .. but their efforts are probably sloppy and mostly ineffectual.
