Aliens. I think people were too scared (literally) to realize what James Cameron and Sigourney Weaver pulled off.

I’m think big big picture. Ridley Scott gets way more due than Cameron. Aliens is a footnote like ‘horror movie’ but has the most bad ass story of a reluctant person facing her most dreadful fear AGAIN and leading as a woman with no given authority. It’s fucking great.

Specific achievements rarely noticed -- invented Ripley's daughter, the basis of Isolation. Also established the only hard date in the franchise (6/12/79), upon which the entire timeline depends. Weyland-Yutani was a thought in Alien, never explicit. The Queen. Etc.
