thanks for listening! @KTmBoyle is fantastic. looping her in bc i don't really think she is arguing people choose the personality-driven thing so much as this is a high-level trend that can't be stopped, and its corrosive to the sort of work you're mentioning here.

That's a fair assessment; agree not all famous reporters leave institutions. But I've seen first hand how reporters are rewarded for followers (bargaining power, book deals, MSNBC/CNBC income.) Celebrity journalists are treated differently in orgs; different set of rules for them
