i actually have noticed a trend among some socialists away from aggressive identity-based stuff. @AliceFromQueens has been a good follow on the issue. i don't at all think the trend is dominant, though.

The early Soviets grappled with this re ethnicities. They promoted victimization, so that individuals would defer to collective power. But they couldn’t push ethnic identity beyond what a Soviet republic could eventually contain, bc it had to be “united” after the revolution.
