Given this pandemic, it’s seems to me like the populace can’t incorporate biological truths into their political framework.

There's enough work in the area being done that it'll be soon doable even if under the carpet. And it happens to be adjacent to general precision medicine(cell reprogramming) so it's difficult to imagine the progress ever pausing.
