Are you sure? Life seems pretty good at increasing total entropy by decreasing it locally. (Also, the guy is a physics phd candidate and one of the world's greatest engineers. Not that it necessarily means anything. Just saying.)

We agree about the limits of appealing to authority, then. Interesting clip. Thanks. He seems to agree that the total entropy increases and that our reduction of it is local. But argues also that we've discovered the universe will go on forever, not turn around and implode.

He also seems to acknowledge lots of disagreement among top physicists, and that there's a lot of speculation involved. Either way. The subject has fascinated me immensely for a while. Boltzmann was tortured by the second law he helped pioneer, and eventually killed himself.
