This has been a failure of government, a failure of policy and a failure of media. UK is the worst offender. France, Belgium and Spain were hit hard before we realized how to stop it, so that’s a different story. US failed because prevented testing and did a cargo cult lockdown.

But it is true that Sweden has higher weekly rates now than other nations without getting much economic benefit. This story isn’t over, as the US is doing everything it can to maximize a second wave.

Korea is a "small peninsula" with 51 million people, half of which live in the metropolitan area greater than LA. People of Europe and the US don't have the discipline the Koreans have, though, and many of their government's practices strike us as state surveillance.
