Those don’t take per capita into account. The only thing not effected by per capita it will pull up is cumulative death rate which shows the United States right at the bottom.

The US has the 10th highest per capita fatalities out of 190+ countries. I would hardly call that doing well.

A lot of it was just luck with how early you got hit. For example Portugal didn’t do anything exceptional with testing and tracing early on but Spain got hit hard first and they were able to lockdown before the virus was spreading so despite being connected to Spain no issues.
