I strongly support efforts from @DeanPreston to open a safe camping site in the Haight. We need to open more safe camping spaces while working toward building more shelters and supportive housing. Consider the counterfactual: If the safe camping site was already running, would you call to shut it down without having adequate shelter capacity? I don't think you would, so it stands to reason that opening safer places to sleep is the right short-term choice.

Looking out my window in the TL shows a dozen tents packed together along the sidewalk, too close to be safe. This also means people walking by have to walk out into the street to maintain 6' distance. I say the parking lot is safer because the tents can be spaced out.
