I strongly support efforts from @DeanPreston to open a safe camping site in the Haight. We need to open more safe camping spaces while working toward building more shelters and supportive housing. i live a block from the site, and strongly condemn it. the supes aren’t doing this because of covid. this is a defacto permanent camp and everyone knows it. six months from now these will be normalized, and the will to build actually humane emergency shelter will be gone.
