i'm producing two podcasts on a laptop with a hundred dollar mic, descript, adobe audition, and soundcloud — no studio, no real budget, no help. but my interview quality sounds close to par with what i'm hearing out of "pro" shops with $$$. our tools have gotten REALLY GOOD.

Ohhh, if I could be like mic. I'm still in the dark ages with my Samson. Still pleased with what I get for $60. Sort of a power law thing – 90% of the production values come from 10% of the cost.

AT have long made some pretty respectable affordable mic’s. They supplied for the whole 2000 Olympics. If you want to palm off any of that sound editing work, let me know
