"our government is bad" "yes, but what if we made it huge and all powerful?"
transit, education, homelessness, heroin, violent crime, an actually apocalyptic pension crisis on the horizon, and on top of it all an increasingly tedious nanny-state culture of "vapes are now illegal just because." it's not only a land use problem.

1,3,4,5 are all primarily problems with land use. CA's education system is worlds better than most states, but to the extent that it is underfunded, that's also land use. CA has not banned vapes.

But to the original point, CA lacks an effective opposition party and needs one. We need parties to campaign on "Part of the govt doesn't work well, and we can make it work better" back and forth between the parties, instead of "the govt can't work and we're tearing it down."
