Is it wrong though? It seems to fit the concept of opportunity cost pretty well. Every moment you spend raising a child is a moment not spent making money. Ergo, if you want people to raise children you should pay them enough to not be doing something else with their time.
correct in the technical sense, as any number of things can be reduced in such a way, from cooking for friends to practicing starcraft. and no, we don't value parenting as highly as we should. but the language is degrading, dehumanizing, and, let's be real, purposely divisive.

It might be worth exploring solutions to the problem. If they are well designed and can be framed in a way that has goal alignment for all parties, presenting and adopting them might be effective in disarming these attempts at propaganda and division.

Big difference because one can choose not to practice starcraft or cook for friends. Kids need constant supervision, and if you can't do it yourself for a particular part of a day, then you have to hire someone who can.
