It’s not a perfect comparison (especially since subscribing is free so doesn’t necessarily indicate high interest / loyalty), but it is shocking how no one gives him any credit for what is essentially a one-man media empire.

Everytime I look at a YouTube follow count I think "how much rating would this have been when I was a kid and TV rating was newspaper news". 20 years ago these would have been generational icons, now they are just footnotes af YouTube scale
