I mean we can figure out a plan to allow the lifting of some of the restrictions, not up to us when the crisis ends though... we can’t force a cure or vaccine to appear and we can’t insist to the virus that enough is enough

quarantine was an emergency measure to buy us some time while we got our hospitals, PPE, and tests in order. but it’s like holding your breath. literally impossible to maintain without spiraling into global depression.

I'm a big fan of just producing enough PPE for the general public. Enforced lockdowns are too damaging to livelihoods, and at some point people will just stop obeying. Might as well have enough gear to go around at that point. I've got some arriving a little after a week from now

California seems on track to reopen in like 4 weeks with a seriously low active caseload? Feels worth it.

but yea agree -> goal needs to be described (in CA, seems like active suppression is achievable) with clear checkpoints to progress to the next phase. Feels like there is daylight for this in the Bay Area especially.
