New rule of the discourse: If you're on here saying we should adopt the no-lockdown Swedish model, then you should be equally forceful in your advocacy of adopting a similar social safety net and universal health coverage. (Otherwise, I can't take you seriously.)

If huge parts of our population (minorities, underinsured) don't trust going to healthcare system because they don't think it will either listen to them or worry it will provide them with a paralyzingly expensive bill, they will go too late and infect more people along the way.

the hospitals are not taking ANY patients until they're having trouble breathing, at which point... who is staying home? how many people are dying from COVID at home rather than in hospitals?

Exactly. They have what is probably the best healthcare system in the world and their death rate is still quite high, can you imagine if they didn't? Going for herd immunity in the US, with your healthcare system, will probably mean a massacre.
