Many things need to go right for us to go “back to normal”. A vaccine or treatment must be discovered & scaled. It needs to be widely adopted despite anti-vaxx skepticism. Enough businesses need to remain solvent over this time. This isn’t impossible, but it’s not certain.

Yeah, I know folks want to do that, but basically we have done a halfway lockdown strong enough to crash the economy but not stop the virus. Compare to New Zealand, which has gotten close to no new cases in a few weeks. Could replicate at state level. https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1254315162313490434?s=21 …https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1254315162313490434 …

But if you meant they want to return in the long term, the issue is that many of those jobs will no longer be economically feasible. Like, the cost of pandemic insurance, the internet alternatives developed over the next few years, it’s not going to be easy to go back 100%.

Predictions of a wildly different future get surreal from Sweden where things are mostly normal. We'll probably get it bad because we didn't control pace, but seems countries that locked down are reopening slowly? Is it US litigation and healthcare that changes that for you?
