This was great. FWIW, when I worked with a PhD former naval aviator and test pilot, I asked him about this, and he said he thought it was radar artifacts from something benign like Mylar balloons. The encounters began suspiciously after upgrading radar systems.

My favorite are the theories that we, or China, have drones with these kinds of performance characteristics. The NSA can’t even keep its weapons in a secure server. All real countries maintain serious spy satellites. Humans building these things are the crazy conspiracy.

At the same time, it could be some natural occurrence we don’t approach understanding. These happen more with carrier groups- hyper advanced sensor systems, and nuclear reactors. Maybe there’s some crazy phenomena that can trigger occasionally. Magnets used to be freaking magic
