I think one reason people hate preppers is that even when they're totally right (you REALLY should have a first aid kit), it's still a hassle and people don't like thinking about all the things they should do and don't. And a lot of people don't want to be That Guy.
i think it's partly like a cousin to the thing that keeps us from wanting to think about life insurance and organ donation, and partly, completely agree, no one wants to be That Guy lol
there's that but also there's like, people who are vegan themselves but know that it's hard and don't want to impose a costly thing on others even if that's what they think is a better way to live
