    journalist just asked trump a thoughtful question about the UK herd immunity approach, in contrast with broader shutdowns, and trump responded thoughtfully about the tradeoffs and unknowns. interesting to be having real conversations right now.

        trump just admitted he's been calling this "the chinese virus" specifically in response to the increasingly-widespread chinese propaganda pushing the idea that the US military released COVID-19. important addition to this convo, imo.

        from trump's comments, we are definitely about to see a ton of bailouts - airlines, hospitality, boeing. cash to citizens on the table. we're printing money, baby. none of the philosophical trepidation here we saw from bush in 08.

        UK has now basically u-turned on herd immunity approach. Initial models were projecting 250k mortalities, now “targeting” 20k with different strat.
