separately, let's lose this "we" frame. space accounts for a small fraction of global spending. it has nothing to do with our inability to realize whatever version of utopia it is you're selling, and "we" don't have to go anywhere. if you don't want to go to mars, stay home.

If a SpaceX Starship launch ends up costing about $100 million, then you could launch 100 times a year for the same amount as people in the US spend on delivery pizza. Space travel will be, societally, cheap.

Do we have the tech for humans to make the trip without getting cancer or altering their DNA irreparably? I thought the trip itself was one of the hardest parts.
