a few things happening at once: 1) the ubiquity of PrEP has led to the normalization of unprotected sex among gay men 2) antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections are sharply on the rise 3) almost every publicly-traded company working on new antibiotics appears to be collapsingpic.twitter.com/eq69Oj71m9

You're doing it to yourselves. Stop acting like hedonistic feral animals and start exercising self control. After all it's your lives that are at stake - first and foremost. Also, think about the superbugs you are creating and how that affects others.

Lol I’m a troll account but ok. Part blame medicine. They don’t tell patients about that risk at all. Also you’d be surprised the hedonistic part is realistically only 15-20% of the alphabet people but because anal transmits so easily = high std’s within 20% subgroup.

Well Pareto's principle - 20% can do 80% of the damage. LGBT community needs to take ownership of this issue and take lead in raising awareness since they have the most to lose.

Hard to police other people? But again, medicine just push drugs and don’t raise awareness. Outside US generic prep only costs $20~ a month (real cost) which is a lot cheaper than hiv treatment (thousands).

guys, i can’t believe i have to hop in here and clarify (or, wtf am i talking about of course i can, it’s twitter) but the problem isn’t gay sex. the problem is over a long enough time horizon antibiotics always fail, and if we stop producing new antibiotics we’re fucked.

Using protection and/or having fewer sexual partners could help as well.
