No we should be getting the megatons from asteroids, not from Earth. Rockets should only be transporting humans as soon as possible, way before we start thinking about being multiplanetary. Focus on the root cause. Gravity wells are tough to get out of.https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1217986505513172992 …

confused - where are we transporting humans if we aren’t multi-planetary? space stations don’t move the dial for the human race. we need to go to mars.

I uh... I actually disagree here :) Time for another Solana Delian lunch chat

There is estimated to be about a million tons of Helium 3 on the surface of the moon since it lacks an atmosphere We could use the moon as a base not just for space exploration but also a means to power both Earth and space with clean nuke energy. We should walk before running.

agree H3 mining will be a cool thing once we figure out nuclear fusion, which we’ve been attempting for... 8 decades?

That's because of the common attempts resulting in a shed neutron, which causes loss of energy We don't have H3 supply on Earth due to our atmosphere But Deuterium and H3 will fuse to create Helium and shed a proton The reason fusion isn't working is for not having supplies

h3 is scarce on earth but not nonexistent. more than enough to run a fusion experiment. resources aren’t what’s holding us back.

We know that nuclear fusion works, with these elements, because we have a sun that creates its energy this way.

yes, and we’ve produced fusion reactions on earth as well. the problem is sustaining the reaction.

The real trick is finding a way to power the world on internet false outrage because there seems to be a sustainable supply.
