Interesting thing about this is: (a) enterprise cos often don’t do press at all (b) consumer cos just go direct on social media nowadays You can build a billion dollar business without ever talking to a journalist.
trying to imagine a serious investor saying to a young entrepreneur “wow, love you, love your team, love what you’re working on... but tech crunch guy isn’t talking about you enough” and just laughing and laughing

It actually would be interesting to plot “# of press mentions” vs “exit value”. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that be almost spherical. Especially for enterprise companies. Or even consumer companies like WhatsApp, which had little US tech coverage prior to the acquisition.
