Isn’t the job of the prosecutor to reduce crime and see that justice is done? Choosing to criminalise mental ill health and addiction might not be the best way to do that.

In the UK the mentally ill are over represented by a factor of three in jails - http://www.prisonreformtrust.org.uk/WhatWeDo/Projectsresearch/Mentalhealth … - while ADHD & dyslexia are also rampant. Not an expert on US, but with the rates of incarceration and lack of healthcare can’t imagine its better.

we aren’t talking about the UK, we’re talking about san francisco, and san francisco isn’t prosecuting *anyone.* this was a problem before chesa. it is an actual disaster now.
