This is phenomenal. Stephen Baxter’s “dictatorship of life support” is pretty inevitable, and the foundation of anything in space. If life support isn’t run by experts, it puts everyone at risk. If the experts disagree with the leaders, the experts win. Fin.
I do wonder if corporations will look different. In an environment with advanced technology default, it’s IoT on steroids. Complex programmatic business contracts would be native to Mars. Might spur innovation in corporate governance, while avoiding popularity contests.
Nice, but can we have this on earth? Like states competing for citizens and citizens chose the country based on performance, tax, legal etc basically based on service delivered in return for taxes paid.
... Which will allow restaurants to go from competing on culture and aesthetic for tiny profit margins, to go from zero to one on Mars.
